What’s the best part about SBYC? Friends who help. We managed to lose our topping lift from the top of the mast 9pm Saturday night. By 9am, sunday other members had rallied to get us a Bosun’s chair, and lift Gisela to the top of the mast. We were back sailing by 10am. Thanks go [...]

2009 kicked off with the 101st Commodores Ball. We’ve come a long way from the days when our club house was owned by the Rheingold Beer Family. Wonder if their party’s ended with dancing on the tables?

Memorial Day Weekend: Reciprocity works

Another great thing about SBYC is its reciprocity with other clubs in the area.
The owners of Water Colors, a Bristol 27, sailed over to Keyport Yacht Club this weekend where the club had a mooring waiting and used the facilities. Dinner in town and and a sail back the next day. A great weekend.

Riviera is Finished

Well it was almost another rain delay in finishing setting up for 2009 season, but a few hearty souls stuck it out and got it all together. Last boats in the water, tables and new umbrellas up. A clean sweep of the grounds and we are good to go.

Haze and calm

Bobby and JVP went out on Bobby’s newly stripped and fresh painted BANDIT, on Saturday. It was a day when the wind didn’t kick up and help push the fog off the water. A quick jaunt across Ambrose channel turned in to a slow coast back home.
